Ok so I was sitting in my Taxi Cab talking to this Cab driver over a month ago, and sympathizing with him the ridiculousness of adding to the already strong Taxi operators and their huge fleet of Cabs [ All the new Companies ]. If I see him again today I will tell him in no uncertain terms that the Government was right after all. I spent almost 2 hours waiting for a cab in Maxwell road from 9:30 to 11:30 when I finally gave up and called a bloody cab.

I saw hundreds of Taxis going around me with their on call signs. Some had On call logos on them even though they had Cab tops which could display their Availability. They even went a few rounds around the same URA center and Food alley near to the Bank of China. I was then told by my mother’s friend that it would rain diamonds if anyone can flag a Taxi around that area without a Booking or a call.
They have the cheek; they have the cheek to complain that the government added to their existing burden. This if I may assume is not the only area with a problem, I have heard of similar occurrences in Yishun, Tuas, Kranji and a few other areas.
If they deem fit to play around with the system in such an abrasive and un-customer orientated action, and yet raise their fares I am wondering if the raising of the Call and Booking charges will have an adverse effect on the Taxi drivers state of mind.
Will we get to a time when we have to call or we wont get a cab? ……..
